references

i try not to use references directly and instead learn how things work from memory because i think it is more rewarding that way. i want to have these things engrained in my consciousness x3

she is why i started drawing foxes. i learned a lot from the images of her on this website. she is so beautiful and influential to what i do now and i wish i knew more about her.

one of the first things i learned from her is the shape of the fur on the top of the head which i sometimes see in other foxes, flat in the middle but a really small triangle on each side closest to the ear. like this [ear]^-----^[ear].
i learned that foxes have really dark fur around their eyes which is really important to making a fox drawing actually look like a fox.

there is one picture of her sitting and facing right with a lot of sunshine that made me realize that foxes have whiskers above their eyes and all over their faces and i really want to know more about that, it makes me really happy :>

this photo is how i learned about this kind of brown triangular shape with a crease that comes out from the inner corner of the eye and slants to the snout. if that makes any sense. eyes are straight forward facing with no real tilt to the snout, but the inner sides of the eyes start to tilt towards the snout and i really like that brown triangle that ends it off there.
i also think there is like a vein that sticks out under the chin which is really interesting if true.

the head shape of the parent on the left is amazing. i am obsessed with it. it's perfect x3. i especially love the curves around the eyes. the fact that their fur is so short here is so helpful to actually knowing how fox heads are shaped. such a beautiful face :333
